Freedom in Education Magazine

As well as our books, One-to-One, Unqualified Education and our set of maths books, we run a monthly magazine called Freedom in Education.  We started it from scratch in January 2003, but there are already 126 subscribers, and this figure is increasing every day.
The Jamboree can be taken as a sample for the magazine in general, because all the crafts, cartoons, stories from history, and recipes are taken from it; but this doesn't mean that everything from the magazine can be viewed on-line - due to the severe limitations of the internet that's just not possible.  An on-line dot to dot,
word search, maze, or code simply wouldn't work!  So if you want to have the complete Jamboree, plus an excellent article by my father, news from around the world, letters from different people and many more puzzles, you can subscribe to our magazine on-line for just £12.00!
I know that the problem with on-line buying is always that one can never really be sure of what one's getting, so to the best of our abilities we have tried below to give you as just a picture of the whole magazine as possible.

(the following information is mainly taken from the
freedom-in-education website, and therefore any contact addresses will go to that.  I hope you find it useful!).

The Spoon Family
Episode 1 can be read on-line!
Samuel and I (Wendy) started this series a few months ago.  It is about a family of spoons who live in the cutlery drawer.  Of all the feedback we get from the magazine, the spoons are mentioned most often - I guess you just can't beat a good cartoon!

Chocolate Vanilla Shortbread

Recipes  All the recipes so far published in the magazine can be seen on Bethan's Online Cookbook, but they do appear first in Freedom in Education.
Articles The magazine carries the main article from the freedom-in-education newsletter, (which is my father's free e-newsletter).  They are always highly interesting, inspiring, encouraging and fun to read.

News Summary of educational news from around the world.

Literature Poems and nursery rhymes, surrounded by an elaborate pen and ink picture by Bethan.

Puzzles Code, word searches, quizzes, mazes, and dot to dots.

Crafts Craft projects, most of which can be seen online in my craft corner.

History Stories and lives from history.

Gardening Tips for the organic gardener. This section is being extended to give information about plants, wildlife and botany.

Mathematics The magazine includes a series of articles explaining the Elements of Geometry upon which Western mathematics is based.

Fairy Story The magazine has just completed a full-colour 8-part serialization of Allerleirauh by the brothers Grimm, and is now starting a new story: The Goosegirl at the Well..

As said before, Most of the material in the magazine also appears either on the freedom-in-education website or elsewhere on The Jamboree, but subscribers do say that reading it online is not comparable to having a magazine that falls through the letterbox, which the children can pick up and read. We therefore hope that you will take advantage of the offer to order a trial copy, or to subscribe, using the buttons below.
